THE MYSTERY OF MITHRAS. EXPLORING THE HEART OF A ROMAN CULT

The Royal Museum of Mariemont takes us on an initiatory tour into the cult of the god Mithras, one of the most mysterious cults of Roman Antiquity.

This year 2022 will be marked by the bicentenary of the deciphering of hieroglyphs by Jean-François Champollion and the centenary of the discovery of the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamen. As a museum and scientific establishment of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, the Royal Museum of Mariemont holds the second most important Egyptian collection in Belgium. It intends to position itself as the leader of this double commemoration and to develop for the occasion a cultural dynamic throughout the national territory, and even beyond. The Museum will therefore offer a real cultural programme with no less than seven exhibitions!
Egypt. Everlasting Passion from 24 September 2022 to 16 April 2023. A part of this exhibition will be dedicated to restauration : Egypt. Everlasting Passion : The multiple lives of coffins (12.11.2022 - 09.04.2023)

Alexandria : Past Futures from 23 September 2022 to 8 January 2023. This exhibition is curated by the Museum but will be presented at the BOZAR! Afterwards, the exhibition will be presented at the Mucem in Marseille 08.02.2023 – 08.05.2023
